The NRL has been forced to re-evaluate its 2017 season schedule after the NRL confirmed the NRL and AFL would be playing on a Saturday afternoon in 2017.

The NRL said the change was due to scheduling issues with the two sports but the AFL and NRL said they would have to find another time for the AFL game.

This week the AFL announced it would play the AFL on Saturday at 4.30pm (AEDT) in Melbourne, while the NRL announced they would play at 5pm (local time) in Sydney on December 7.

The AFL has had to cancel its fixture against the Storm in Melbourne because of the change.

It is not the first time the AFL has been unable to accommodate the NRL’s scheduling.

In March the AFL also cancelled the weekend fixtures against the Bulldogs, West Coast Eagles and Brisbane Lions, and it had to play in Sydney.
