New Mexico faces BYU for season opener

The New Mexico State men’s basketball team will take on BYU in the Mountain West Conference opener for the first time since 1993, the school announced on Wednesday.

The game will take place at 7 p.m.

MT at New Mexico’s Albuquerque Arena, which is located at 7600 N.W. 2nd Ave., Albuquerque.

The match will be the first meeting between the two teams since BYU beat the Lobos 64-53 on Feb. 10, 2019.

The New Mexico basketball team was ranked No. 4 in the country in the preseason and had its highest ranking in program history at No. 7, behind the reigning national champions, the University of California, UCLA.
