When Bears and Vikings will play again

WASHINGTON (AP) The Chicago Bears and Minnesota Vikings will meet for the first time in a regular-season game Sunday night, and a rematch in the NFC North could have a much bigger impact than expected.
The Chicago Bears host the Minnesota Vikings at Soldier Field in a game that will mark the first game in the NFL since the NFL began requiring teams to play at least one regular-week game in Week 5.
The Bears won their last matchup on Sept. 23, 2014, defeating the Minnesota 49ers 27-23.
They won last season’s NFC North title with a 23-0 victory over the Green Bay Packers.
But they’ve been struggling with injuries to key players and head coach John Fox, and their defense is struggling.
The Bears haven’t been the same since the season ended.
The Vikings, meanwhile, have struggled.
They lost three straight to open the season, but a late comeback win over the Philadelphia Eagles on Sunday made it a four-game homestand for them.
The Vikings have allowed the fewest points in the league.
Their season-long struggles began in the first week of the season.
In Week 1, Minnesota blew a 17-point lead to a struggling Detroit Lions team in a blowout victory.
Then they gave up three fourth-quarter touchdowns in the final two weeks.
The Lions then lost the season finale, 38-34 to the San Francisco 49ers.
The second week of this homestare is the longest since 2010, when the Bears and Eagles combined to win four games.
The Packers won their first game on Oct. 16, 2010, beating the New Orleans Saints 34-14.
But the Bears haven, as well, lost two straight.
The Packers are 9-7, but haven’t won consecutive games since a 28-24 loss to the New York Giants on Nov. 17, 2010.
The season has only been on the line twice this season.
The Minnesota Vikings have won three straight.
They beat the Chicago Bears on Sept 21, 2019, and then won the season opener 27-14 at Lambeau Field.
The next week, the Bears defeated the Vikings 30-24.
Minnesota has won four of the last five meetings, including the NFC Championship Game in 2018.
The season has been tied at 2-2 since the Vikings and Bears last met in a Week 4 matchup in Green Bay.
The teams have not played since.
Minnesota was outscored 38-6 in the second half in that game, including a 21-3 halftime deficit.
The win was the first since Sept. 28, 2019.
The previous game, a 41-35 win over New England, was the last time the Bears scored more than 25 points in a playoff game.
Minnesota is 5-4 against NFC teams since the Bears lost to them in the 2017 season opener.
The only other time the Vikings have lost a regular season game to a NFC team since the start of this season was Dec. 19, 2020, in Minneapolis.
Minnesota lost both of their games against NFC opponents in the 2018 season opener, losing 30-14 to the Seahawks and 41-16 to the Falcons.
They also lost both regular season games against the Packers in 2017.
The teams have met four times since last season, with the Bears winning the other three.
They met again in 2019.
The NFL mandated the teams play at the same time, but neither team has been able to agree on a time to play.
The two teams play the first Sunday of the regular season in Week 4.
