Oregon QB Marcus Mariota will likely be the Ducks starting QB for the rest of the season

Marcus MariOTA, Oregon: The Ducks are going to have to wait until Week 17 to start their season against Utah State in Eugene.

It’s been four weeks since Mariota broke his foot against Arizona, and he was listed as questionable.

But that’s only been the first two weeks, and Mariota said Thursday that he’s expected to play in Week 3 against Utah.

“We’ll see,” Mariota told reporters after practice.

“Hopefully we’ll have a good start.”

The Ducks have played six games in the last four weeks, losing to Utah State, Utah State and Washington State.

The win against Washington State was a 20-point win that pushed the Ducks past Utah State into fourth place in the Pac-12 North.

They are 9-2 all-time against Utah and 5-1 all-times against Washington.

They’ve played the Cougars in seven games this season, winning four.

“It’s good for the guys to go out and play a lot of football,” Oregon coach Mark Helfrich said.

“The good news is they’re going to do it against a team that’s been a good opponent, so that’s something we’ll see.”

The only other team to beat the Ducks since 2010 is Washington State, which beat the Cougs in Week 5 of last season.

Oregon’s only losses are to Utah, which is 4-5 all- time, and Washington, which was 8-4 last season, before winning by 23.

Mariota has thrown for 4,464 yards and 36 touchdowns this season.

He has thrown 21 touchdown passes and eight interceptions.

The Ducks will be without starting quarterback Cody Kessler, who missed Thursday’s practice with a sore shoulder.

Kessler has been on injured reserve for three games this year, and the Ducks plan to keep him on the practice squad.

Helfold also said it’s possible Oregon will go without running back Devontae Booker for a month or two.

The Oregon coaches have said that Booker is not 100 percent and could be out a month if he doesn’t play.

But Booker has missed only one game all season.

“He’s been pretty good, but I’ve never seen a guy with the way he plays and how he carries himself,” Helfoldsaid.

“So he’ll be fine.

We’re all looking forward to seeing him play.”

The Cougars are 6-3 this season against the Ducks, and they beat them by 14 in 2015.

The Cougs have won five straight against Oregon.
