Auburn football schedule: ‘The Big Ten’ team to host Alabama in the regular season, SEC schedule

AUBURN, Ala.

— Auburn will face Alabama in its opener on Nov. 14 in Birmingham, the league announced on Tuesday.

The Tigers will be without senior wide receiver Chris Thompson and senior linebacker DeAndre Walker as the Tigers prepare for their first home game in five seasons.

Thompson, a senior from Texas, is a first-team All-American and All-SEC selection as a sophomore and senior.

Walker, a junior from Texas who spent last season at LSU, is second in the SEC in receptions (68) and tackles (52).

Walker, a freshman from West Point, has recorded three career tackles for loss.

Both players were selected to the SEC All-Freshman team last season.

Bobby Bowden, the Tigers’ offensive coordinator, is expected to lead the offense and will likely take a look at what Alabama is going to do in the passing game with quarterback Jalen Hurts.

Bowden is the former head coach of the Crimson Tide and also was Auburn’s offensive coordinator in 2015.

The game will be televised on ESPN.

Auburn has a 12-1 overall record this season.
